Ruth Jane Willert
(1922-2018) My Wonderful and Musical Mother!
Ruth Jane Elbel Willert was my mother as well as the mother of my nine other beautiful siblings. She spent her entire life loving her ten kids and her music. Mom was a wonderfully trained pianist, and she used these skills to give private lessons and to accompany a plethora of churches for most of her life in order to support her family as best she could. Mom was a staunch Christian, a very creative thinker (who told us fabulous and kooky bedtime stories as children), and one of the kindest and most humble people I have ever known. It was a shock to me when she died suddenly in the early hours of December 1st. I didn't cry, but I couldn't speak for quite a while as I processed the enormity of what had just happened. I loved my mother very much! When my mom died, a part of me did too. But I am eternally grateful to her for the love, humor and music she shared with all of us until the very end. Like my mom, I love music, I love the people around me and I too, have a quirky sense of humor, as do most of my siblings! Thanks for all of that, Mom. As long as those of us who loved you are alive, I believe that our wonderful memories of you and your tremendous legacy will never stop being an important part of our lives, just as you were in life!
